Workshops

The following workshops are confirmed so far:

Emulation: Case Studies in Virtual Ramp-Ups
Spieckermann, Sven. SimPlan AG, Maintal-Dörnigheim

Traditionally, the emulation workshop is dedicated to give an overview on recent developments and projects in the area of virtual ramp-up. As with the preceeding conferences in Berlin, Kassel, Berlin, and Karlsruhe in the years 2004, 2006, 2008, and 2010, this fifth emulation workshop will present three case studies after a brief introduction. The cases are originated in the automotive industry and in intralogistics. The workshop is of interest for practitioners and researchers in the field.

Simulation in IT-Servicemanagement
Schmidtmann, Achim. FH Dortmund

IT-Services nowadays are a standard practice in almost all large, but also many mid-sized companies worldwide. They are supplied by external contractors as well as in house departments. The aim is to support business processes as well as possible and therefore ensuring an optimal IT-Business-Alignment through IT-Organisation. This is enabled by continuous improvement of the IT-Services, the efficiency, quality and economy of the corresponding IT-Organisation by the management. Simulation can be widely used in this context to gather new findings. The potential applications range from didactic approaches, „simulation games“ that show the users how IT changes from a technical to a client and service orientation, to simulation of IT-Service based business process and Configuration-Management data based simulation that includes all necessary information about the IT-infrastructure, IT-Services as well as their relationships and interdependencies.

The workshop is of interest for users and researchers that use IT-Servicemanagement in its various stages as well as simulation as a tool to avoid time consuming and uneconomic experiences in reality.

Software based production planning: Use cases of Advanced Planning and Scheduling in the area of discrete manufacturing
Wilson, Heike. DUALIS GmbH IT Solution, Dresden

Many manufacturing companies have to expand in the coming years in the field of production planning and control their IT infrastructure with Advanced Planning and Scheduling systems in order to produce on-time and cost-optimal even with steadily increasing manufacturing complexity. In an overview presentation of the current status quo, as well as motivation, opportunities and acceptance of APS systems are objectively illuminated. The following two use case presentations concentrate on modeling aspects such as data complexity and data preparation in APS applications, to generate optimal job sequence based on company-specific constraints, such as availability of staff, tools and materials. The workshop is aimed at practitioners and researchers in the area of Advanced Planning and Scheduling, to learn more about current trends and practical applications of APS systems.
